Frequently Asked Questions

(Or: Everything you’re wondering while you stare at your wall)

How long does the "Lab Treatment" take?

We’re scientists, not short-order cooks. Usually, our team of remastering experts takes 3-5 business days to polish, upscale, and perfect your custom specimen. Once we’ve achieved "masterpiece" status, we print and ship. Good things take time; great things take a little more.

Can you really fix my blurry photo?

We can perform a lot of digital "surgery," but we aren't miracle workers. If your photo looks like it was taken by a tripod during an earthquake, we’ll let you know. If we can’t make it look museum-grade, we’ll refund you and tell you to try again. We have a strict "No Pixelated Trash" policy.

What exactly is a "Giclée" print?

It’s a fancy French word for "the best print you’ve ever seen." Unlike your home printer, we use archival pigment-based inks and industrial-grade sprayers that capture every microscopic detail. It’s the difference between a high-definition movie and a flipbook.

What kind of paper do you use?

We exclusively use Hahnemühle Photo Rag. It’s 100% cotton, acid-free, and imported from Germany. This isn’t the flimsy stuff you find in a corporate copier; it’s a heavyweight, museum-grade media designed to hold a wider color gamut and stay vibrant for over a century. If you’re looking for something that feels "expensive" the moment you touch it, you’re in the right place.

The Lab’s Three Finishes:

1. Matte Cotton: The "Classic" Choice

  • The Vibe: The purist’s favorite. Best for original art, illustrations, and anything that needs to look "painterly."
  • The Feel: Smooth, soft, and substantial—like high-quality watercolor paper.
  • Why it’s cool: It has zero glare. None. Because it’s a matte finish, it makes scanned paper textures look like they are actually sitting on the surface of the print. It’s a tactile, organic experience.

2. Photo Rag Baryta: The "Gallery" Standard

  • The Vibe: Sophisticated, cinematic, and professional. This is for the person who wants their home to feel like a high-end exhibition.
  • The Feel: A delicate texture with a slight, elegant "satin" sheen (no cheap, plastic gloss here).
  • Why it’s cool: Baryta is famous for its "D-max"—art speak for "infinite blacks." It makes dark areas look like deep pools of ink and gives photography an incredible, three-dimensional depth.

3. Photo Rag Metallic: The "Showstopper"

  • The Vibe: Bold, modern, and slightly aggressive. This is for the piece that isn’t afraid to be the center of attention.
  • The Feel: A premium high-gloss finish with a unique metallic shimmer in the highlights.
  • Why it’s cool: It makes colors glow. If your art features water, metal, jewelry, or gold leaf elements, this paper makes them shimmer as the light hits the wall. It’s basically a high-definition experience for your eyeballs.

Are the frames actually wood?

Yes. No plastic "wood-look" imposters here. Our Modern Black, Architectural White, and Scandi-Organic frames are real wood, built to hold your art for a century or two.

Why only three frame options?

Because we’ve tested thousands, and these are the three that actually make art pop. We’ve done the decision-making for you so you can get back to your life. However, if you have a "vision" that requires something else, [reach out to us]—we love a good challenge.

What if my glass breaks during shipping?

Our packaging is over-engineered (some would say "paranoid"), but accidents happen. If the shipping carrier treats your masterpiece like a football, just send us a photo of the damage and we’ll send a replacement out faster than you can say "insurance claim."

Will this art actually make me less productive?

Legally, we cannot say yes. Factually, based on the depth of our colors and the thickness of our paper... you might want to set an alarm on your phone before you start staring.
